Blood transfusions involve a complex sequence of activities, with a correspondingly high opportunity for error.  To ensure the right patient receives the right blood, there must be strict checking procedures in place at each stage.  The National Patient Safety Agency (NPSA), the Chief Medical Officer’s National Blood Transfusion Committee (NBTC) and Serious Hazards of Transfusion (SHOT) have collaborated to develop and evaluate a series of national initiatives to improve blood safety.

TraceSOFT Fridge

This application is used to Scan Blood Packs In/Out of all Issue Fridge locations.

• Newbury Data fridge kiosks include a UPS and fridge locking mechanism providing total control and security
• The kiosk uses tethered scanners removing the need to place blood packs on the surface of the kiosk, or having to place blood packs in set locations, you take the scanner to the blood pack

TraceSOFT PDA

This application is used to perform Pre-Transfusion Look-ups, Observations and Fate Blood with patient checks at the bedside, and transfer the information to the main TraceSOFT database.

This application is used to view archived data in the TraceSOFT database. The main screen consists of search criteria input fields and resultant archived information matching these criteria.
