How it works
1. Creating TraceSAFE tags
Newbury Data technical support team can either provide support to the pathology IT contact, or assist in capturing the required output file that is sent to the existing compatability printer.
The output file is then simulated and placed in the SecurPrint memory. The SecurPrint solution will now imitate the previous printer, and will print the required data on to the new TraceSAFE tag layout.
2. Printing & Validation TraceSAFE Tag barcode data
As the data is sent to the SecurPrint printer, the SecurPrint program prints and compares all barcode data strings to ensure that all barcodes are readable and contain the correct data. If a bad barcode is identified, SecurPrint automatically retracts the bad label and overprints it, to ensure it is not used. SecurPrint will then automatically re-print the label (without user intervention or loss of data).
3. Laboratory check
After SecurPrint prints the TraceSAFE tag, it is applied to the required blood pack. To ensure the right tag is on the right pack, place the TraceSAFE tag inside the TransSAFE Verifier.
Then by scanning a valid Staff ID, the donation number on the tag and blood pack, TransSAFE will compare and if correct, print confirmation details onto the TraceSAFE Tag, proving the tag is on the right pack. This printed information allows visual confirmation to ward staff that the check has been carried out, acting as back-up to unavailable electronic systems.
4. Ward check & fate
If are you using bar-coded wristbands, TransSAFE can be used by inserting the TraceSAFE tag at time of transfusion. Then by scanning Staff ID, and patient numbers on the tag and blood pack, TransSAFE will then print the transfusion confirmation details on the TraceSAFE tag. Any incorrect identification will result in an error message on the LCD panel, and no information printed in the tag
If are you not using bar-coded wristbands, handwrite the details of the transfusion in the space provide on the TraceSAFE Tag
Once checked and fated, remove the Transfusion record peel-off label and place it in the case notes folder. This acts as a beneficial visual record of the transfusion, even when using electronic tracking and identification systems.
